In this Lab Intern role, you will be the key person to “benchmark” or process PostProcess customer supplied 3D printed parts.  These parts require automated and intelligent support removal and/or surface finishing.  You will use your engineering background, your impeccable record keeping skills, in-depth attention to detail and first class organizational skills to process customer 3D printed parts to illustrate the value of our Additive Post Printing equipment to support the Sales Process. You will also be instrumental in learning about and maintaining the equipment. This is a part-time hourly role with an expected time commitment of 20 hours per week 

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and document incoming benchmark parts and processes: photos, ensuring the Benchmark Worksheet is properly completed, the Benchmark Tracker is up to date and the associated data is entered into our system.
  • Document Finish3D benchmark processing conditions and parameters in detail.
  • Ensure the completion of the benchmarking of parts for customers on our Key Opportunity list within 7 business days of receiving.
  • Produce Performance Evaluations that clearly outline the process(es) used to achieve the desired results and partner closely with Applications & Sales Engineering to deliver accurate and timely information to customers.
  • Input meticulously collected parameter data to a database that captures our current capabilities and is utilized in the Machine Selector tool (requires close partnering with Sales) and also influences future developments (requires close partnering with Engineering).
  • Operate and maintain various 3D printers in the print lab to fulfill internal part orders
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of consumables for all machines in F3D.
  • Clean and maintain all machines, ensuring they always have a showroom appearance.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work environment.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Impeccable record keeping skills which will be applied to the processing of parts through the Benchmark process.
  • Solid understanding of Additive Manufacturing technologies including design software, printers and materials, preferred.
  • Strong experience with electromechanical and system process skills, including operating industrial machinery.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment and ensure benchmarks are processed in priority order to achieve our OKRs.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-performing, collaborative culture that anticipates and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Assist with running benchmarks in our machines with a willingness to “get their hands dirty daily”
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in Google Drive, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Apps, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in an early stage company is beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field (in progress)
  • Certifications with industrial focus preferred
